Valandre Sirius Review...Serious business

I have had this down jacket for a little bit more than a year now and would like to share my experience with this great piece of gear.

First of all the warmth: I go winter camping almost every two week-ends from November to March and as long as I bring this jacket, I am never cold on the mountain.

The loft is exceptional and the amount of the down in hood just makes this jacket extremely warm. It is extremely puffy and it heats up as soon as you put your arms in the sleeves. I have never tried or even seen something as warm. Canada Goose parkas are nowhere as warm ans this puffy jacket (besides specialized Artic models).

Not even 1 kg, this piece is light, not super light, but the weight to warmth ratio is unbeatable. You could probably take a lighter sleeping bag and compensate the warmth with the Sirius.

It is very compactible, however the provided the stuff sack is not great and I recommend to go  with a waterproof OR bag, 10 L should be fine.

Resistance: This product is very resistant. It has reinforcements in many part, would not hesitate to climb with it one second. This is not a jacket that will rip easily or have threading/seams issues. I hope to keep this piece in my pack for a long time.

The style is great, it comes in 3 colors (Red, Yellow,Blue). I opted for the red and feel it is the safest colour on the mountain.

Rating 5 stars out of 5.
